Mbappe impressed during his breakout 2016-17 season, scoring 15 goals and contributing eight assists in 29 Ligue 1 appearances as Monaco won the French championship ahead of PSG and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, ultimately being knocked out by Juventus.
Arsenal are also said to be interested in the teenager, with manager Arsene Wenger hoping to sign a striker capable of supporting Alexis Sanchez up front, but the Gunners will have competition in the form of Madrid, with Perez stating Los Blancos are monitoring his situation.
“I have rarely seen him play & he belongs to Monaco,” Perez told radio station Onda Cero.
“Zidane saw him two years ago when he was 16, Zidane liked him a lot.
“I’m sure he’ll become a great player and we’re following his progress.”
Madrid’s interest will come as a blow to Arsenal, who are looking to recruit top class talent during the transfer window,
Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette is expected to leave France this summer and Arsenal could switch their attentions to the 26-year-old after Perez announced his club’s interest in Mbappe, who also made his France debut this season.
